Maple Crest men celebrate on June 22
Men of Maple Crest held their men's banquet on June 22. The entertainment for the evening was a group of musicians called "Harps & Strings." They are five men who play gospel music on banjos and harmonicas, led by Doug Davis of Elida.
After a meal of boneless ribs, the men in attendance were treated to an inspirational message by Denny Edinger, titled "Four Things I Learned from a Dead Man." Edinger graduated from Ft. Wayne Bible College/Taylor University in 1980, then served as a youth minister for three years, and has worked at the Bluffton Post Office for 25 years.
Due to Edinger's post office career, the decorations for the banquet featured post office paraphernalia. Items included Don Herr's postal jacket, Edinger's antique post card collection, resident Jack Walls' horse and buggy, and an old map of a potential "Swiss Housing Development" in Bluffton, pulled out of the post office attic.
