Footers to be poured for new emergency department
Work continues on the Bluffton Hospital project. Here are construction plans for next week. Don Snyder Excavating has been working on site preparation on the north east corner of the hospital extending into what was the parking lot off of Harmon Road.
Charles Construction Services will begin pouring footers for the new Emergency Department. After footers are in place, they will begin forming walls for the structure.
Next, crews will begin to set bar joists as part of the roof structure in that area. Following that will be finishing the exterior wall along Harmon Road, which encloses an exit ramp for this new area.
There is anticipated to be some temporary traffic flow interruptions as work continues, but construction crews will work to minimize the nuisance and will always have entrances available for those coming to Bluffton Hospital.
Additional signage will be placed to direct patients and EMS units to the temporary Emergency Department entrance.
For safety reasons, the end of Garau Street from the Bluffton Hospital parking lot entrance to Harmon Road will be blocked at times to position the truck delivering the bar joists and to allow the crane to lift the bar joists from the truck to the top of the building.
