Carol Patterson 1918-2010
Carol Christine Patterson, 92, of Wayne, Penna., and formerly of Bluffton, and Greenbelt, Md., died Nov. 1, 2010 at the Neighborhood Hospice Inpatient Unit, West Chester, Penna.
She was born April 16, 1918 in Orange Twp, Hancock County, Ohio to Clarence and Mabel Anderson Cookson. On May 22, 1941 she married Charles A. Patterson and he preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 1989.
Carol grew up in Bluffton. She and her husband Charles were both graduates of Bluffton College. Carol was a schoolteacher before raising a family, and later in life was an administrative assistant at Washington (DC) Hospital Center. She was a member of Berwyn Presbyterian Church in suburban Maryland, and did volunteer work at the church and with the American Lung Association.
Survivors include two sons, Ted (Anne) Patterson of Wayne, Penna., John (Jeanne Davenport) Patterson of Tucson, Ariz., a daughter, Carol Ann (John) Macgregor of Tucson, Ariz., two grandchildren, Jesse Patterson of Wayne, Penna., and Emily Patterson of Tucson, Ariz., and a brother, Richard (Betty) Cookson of Bluffton, OH.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010 at Chiles-Laman Funeral Home, Bluffton. Rev. Allan Patterson will officiate.
Private burial will be in Hasson Cemetery, Van Buren-Orange Township. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
