North Dixie annexation hearing cancelled; papers will be refiled
The Allen County Commissioners' hearing on an annexation petition of 37 properties in the North Dixie Highway area south of Bluffton has been cancelled.
The hearing was to be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 11, in the commissioners' office, Lima.
Village solicitor Stephen Chamberlain told The Icon that the petition has been withdrawn due to technical issues, but will be refiled soon. Once refiled, the property owners will be re-notified of any further proceedings.
On Oct. 11 Bluffton council passed the second reading of an annexation ordinance,
According to Fred Rodabaugh, mayor, 17 out of 35 property owners have signed the petition for annexation. The village is one of the 17 signers because it owns property in the area seeking annexation.
Dick McGarrity voted against the ordinance, which passed 5-1.
