The Sons of Adam next band in Town Hall series
Sons of Adam, a rock band, will perform at 8 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 29, at the Bluffton town hall in the next Town Hall Concert Series performance.
The evening's opening act starts at 7:30 p.m.
"Some call it Folk, Indie, Alternative Rock, Apple-Core. But anyone raised in the '80s to '10s will recognize this style of music as their own, and anyone who loves earnest rock and roll with real musicianship involved will enjoy it," said Wendy Chappell-Dick of the cultural affairs committee.
The founders of Sons of Adam met at Coffee Amici Open Mic Night in Findlay, in 2008. As their musical style developed the duo grew to a band of five members, including some other regulars at the popular coffeehouse venue.
Their name comes from the Chronicles of Narnia, and they chose it because they felt that it had a folk vibe. While their musical genre is officially Indie Rock, they have a respectably acoustic sound, and lots of talent to go with it.
Lead singer Joshua Sprunger sings with a voice reminiscent of Cat Stevens, while female vocalist Nancy Corle has an '80s Edie Brickell feel.
Their sound is instantly recognizable, using less traditional instrumentation while still keeping pop sensibility.
In 2009 The Sons of Adam completed work on the album Rorschach, which included such hits as Spirit of Communication, Lucid Spark, and Mental Reservoir. The band is currently working on their second album to be released sometime in the fall of 2011.
Benjamin Clark opening act
The evening will open at 7:30 p.m. with an act by Benjamin Clark of Lima. Clark claims an Afro-Celtic ethnicity, steeped in musical traditions of both Dominican Republic and Ireland.
He describes his music as Universal Soul Rock. He will make his debut on Saturday, a newcomer to the regional music scene.
The concert is open to the public. Donations are accepted at the door.
