Carol Louise Jordan Edwards 1943-2011
Carol Louise Jordan Edwards, 67 died at 2:40 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011 at her home in Bluffton following a month's illness.
She was born to James T. Sr. and Lenore L. Willauer Jordan on July 3, 1943 in Toledo, Ohio. The youngest of triplets, the Rev. Dr. Henderson L.V. Shinn at Grace Evangelical & Reformed Church, Toledo, baptized her with her brothers into the Christian faith. On May 29, 1966 she wed the Rev. Craig Edwards, who died on June 14, 2009.
Carol was a member of English Lutheran Church, Bluffton. Carol graduated from Bluffton High School Class of 1961 and then from Toledo Hospital School of Nursing in 1964. As her husband's pastoral duties took the family into various communities, she followed her nursing profession in Yosemite, New York, Shelby Ohio, St. Luke's Hospital in Maumee, Ohio and Wooster, Ohio.
In addition she was a volunteer nurse in migrant farm worker camps in Henry County, Ohio and in retirement served as a Red Cross volunteer. Her pastimes were sewing, gourmet cooking, teaching knitting classes and her husband's Welsh lineage.
Surviving are her two sons, Michael Tegwyn (Tina) Edwards of Columbus, Ohio and David Cennydd Rothian Edwards of Cridersville; three grandchildren Alyssa, Daniel and Isabel Edwards; a sister Sallie A. Jordan Jones of Bluffton; four brothers Richard H. (Mary Ann) Jordan of Bluffton, James T. (Marilyn Jordan Jr. of Redmond, Wash., and her triplet siblings Walter P. (Nancy G. Haldeman) Jordan of Toledo and the Rev. Charles H. (Elaine P.) Jordan of Indianapolis, Ind.
Her parents and a sister Betty Ann Goetz preceded her in death.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011 at English Lutheran Church, Bluffton. Rev. Kevin Mohr officiating.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Her body has been donated to Forensic Anthropology Center at Texas State for forensic research.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bluffton Food Pantry or English Lutheran Church.
