Junior music department recitals set April 10
Justin McCall, Victoria Miller, Beth McCullough and Kristin Beckman, all juniors in the Bluffton University music department, will present a recital at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 10, in Yoder Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public; a reception will follow in the lobby.
McCall, of Forest, Ohio, and Miller, of Jeromesville, Ohio, will each perform on the French horn, accompanied on piano by fellow junior Timothy Yoder of Dalton, Ohio. McCall will play numbers by Richard Faith and Mozart, while Miller will present pieces by Paul Dukas and Schubert. Joining Miller on Schubert's "Auf Dem Strom" will be her sister, soprano Kalina Schloneger, a 2008 Bluffton music graduate. McCall and Miller are students of Marilyn Edwards, an adjunct horn instructor at the university.
Selections by Mozart, Bach and Jacques Ibert are on the program for McCullough's flute recital. Pianist Allison Ringold will accompany McCullough, of Sherwood, Ohio, and a student of Dr. Adam Schattschneider, professor of music.
Ringold will also accompany Beckman, a soprano from Ottawa, Ohio, who will perform numbers by Handel, Puccini, Hugo Wolf, Francis Poulenc and William Bolcom. She is a voice student of Dr. Crystal Sellers, assistant professor of music.
The junior recital is designed to help students prepare for their senior recitals. The repertoire is chosen by a faculty member in consultation with each student.
