Washington scholar to present Bluffton Forum April 12
Dr. Doug Hertzler, associate director of Eastern Mennonite University's Washington (D.C.) Community Scholars' Center, will be the speaker at a Bluffton University Forum at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, in Yoder Recital Hall. His presentation, "People : Poverty x Power = Problems or Progress? Where Do You Fit into the Equation?" is free and open to the public.
Also an associate professor of anthropology, Hertzler teaches urban anthropology and advises students serving internships in Washington. Bluffton students travel there for semester-long cross-cultural experiences at the scholars' center. Hertzler's teaching and research interests center on economic inequality, race and ethnicity. He also works on social justice issues in Latin America and has written numerous articles on Bolivia, where he lived for six years.
