Oliver W. Schutz 1922-2011
Oliver W. Schutz, 88, of Pandora died at 7:11 pm April 6, 2011 at his residence. He was born Sept. 25, 1922, in Pandora to Edward E. and Estella Hilty Schutz. On Aug. 5, 1950 he married Rachel Eicher on Aug. 5, 1950 and she survives.
Oliver was a farmer and also drove truck. He was a member of Grace Mennonite Church, Pandora. He sang in the church choir, the Swiss Male Chorus, the Bluffton Choral Society and at First Mennonite Church in Berne, Ind.
Mr. Schutz was a 1940 graduate of Pandora High School and was a WWII Army veteran.
Survivors also include three sons, David (Gaylene) Schutz of Dunkirk, Jonathan (Teresa) Schutz of Columbus Grove, Mark (Susan) Schutz of Pandora, a daughter, Mary (Mark) Krohn of Lima, eight grandchildren, Amanda, Isaac, Levi (Bethany), Luke, Rachel, Justin, Nathan, Miranda, three great grandchildren, Caiden, Gabriella, Gracelynn, two brothers, Maurice (Sue) Schutz of Findlay, Arthur Schutz of Elmhurst, Ill.; two sisters Mary Kathryn (Maynard) Amstutz of Nashville, Tenn. and Ann (Richard) Newcomer of Findlay. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Zachary Schutz and a sister, Sara Jane Balmer.
A memorial service will begin 4 p.m. Saturday at Grace Mennonite Church, Pandora. Rev. Dennis Schmidt will officiate. A funeral meal will follow.
Visitation will be from 2-4 pm Saturday at the church. Oliver's body was donated to Medical University of Ohio. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Putnam County Home Health and Hospice and requests that memorial contributions go to them or the donor's choice.
