Freshman Tyler Wright earns HCAC Hitter of the Week award
Freshman Tyler Wright (Troy) capped off a superb week for the Beavers with a walk-off home run in the 10th inning of Bluffton's 12-11 victory over Anderson University on Saturday, April 23, 2011.
Wright went 7-of-14 with eight RBI and three runs scored as the Beavers were 3-0 on the week. He hit his first two collegiate homers, including the 10th inning game-winner in Bluffton's 12-11 victory over Anderson on Saturday.
Bluffton's wins over the Ravens snapped a streak of 14 straight setbacks to AU. The left fielder was 5-of-6 with six RBI and two runs scored in the walk-off win over Anderson. His six RBI equaled Bob Heitkamp and Tony Moore for the most runs batted in by a Beaver during a single game.
Riding a winning streak of five consecutive games, the Beavers need just one victory to knot the school record of six set by the 1973 squad that finished the season 18-7 and 10-4 in the HBCC.
Bluffton returns to action on Tuesday, April 26, when the Beavers welcome long-time rival Defiance College to Memorial Field. The second contest with the Yellow Jackets in as many weeks is slated to start at 4 p.m.
