Boys' soccer: Van Buren comes out on top in muddy game

Van Buren Black Knights visited the Bluffton Pirates  on Saturday for a non-conference game and gave BHS its third loss of the season: 1-0.
 
Ryan Turner took one of two Van Buren shots on goal at the 6th minute of the game and got it past Bluffton’s keeper, Levi Smith.
 
The balance of the game was intense, muddy, and scoreless.
 
Bluffton took nine shots on goal to two for Van Buren.
 
Van Buren’s keeper, Hunter Fleck had nine saves, to one for Levi Smith.
 
Bluffton’s JV team prevailed, 3-0.

Girls' soccer: It's 0-0 at Kalida

Bluffton entertains Liberty Benton on Tuesday

The Bluffton Lady Pirate Varsity soccer team traveled to Kalida for a 90-minute battle that ended in a tie. 

Neither team gave up a goal, despite multiple attempts by both sides, ending with a 0-0 final score for this non-conference game.  

Bluffton plays Liberty Benton at home on Tuesday.

Jeffrey Scott Stonehill was born in Bluffton

Jeffrey Scott Stonehill, 60 of Columbus, Ohio, died on Sept. 23, 2016.  He was born on Nov. 8, 1955, in Bluffton, Ohio, to Elmer Dean and Gypsy Jo “Jo” Stonehill (Haller).

The second quarter provided a bumpy ride for investors.

Following the upheaval caused by the Brexit vote in June, July kicked off the third quarter by ending the month in favorable fashion, as each of the indexes listed here posted month-to-month gains, led by the Russell 2000 (5.90%) and the Nasdaq (6.60%).
