Here's what's happening at Bluffton University in October

Bluffton University announced the following events held in October that are open to the public. Events are free unless otherwise noted.
 
Oct. 7 Colloquium: “In This World but Not of It: Literary Fiction and Spiritual Conflict,” Friday Colloquium by Jamie Lyn Smith, assistant professor of English, 4 p.m., Stutzman Lecture Hall
Oct. 11 Forum: “Complicating Public Perceptions of the Amish,” Forum presentation by Saloma Miller Furlong, author and speaker, 11 a.m., Yoder Recital Hall

Tickets available for Living Proof simulcast at Ebenezer Mennonite Oct. 15

Evangelist Beth Moore featured presenter

A Living Proof simulcast featuring Evangelist Beth Moore will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Ebenezer Mennonite Church, 8905 Columbus Grove Road, Bluffton.

Join women from around the world for this one-day event, during which participants can hear Moore’s dynamic storytelling and passionate Bible teaching. Guests also can hear Dove-award winning musical artist Travis Cottrell.

The morning session begins with coffee and pastries. The cost for tickets are $15 with an additional $5 optional Subway lunch. Tickets available until Sunday, Oct 9.

2nd annual Farmers’ Table features Sycamore Lake Wine

Keep Allen County Beautiful fundraiser Oct. 22

A farm-to-table culinary event that celebrates regional farms and favors takes place at 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 22 at Fassett Farm, 22532 Bowsher Road, Cridersville. Tickets are $50 each and may be purchased at Quick As A Wink Printing, Lima, or by calling 419-228-1836.

Chef Kevin Link will prepare a meal using fresh, locally-grown organic produce and meats. The menu includes thin shaved prime rib, charbroiled chicken, lodaed potato cakes, sweet kale salad, bacon wrapped butternut squash and caramelized onion tarts.

The subject is hydrangeas on Oct. 4

Hydrangeas is the topic of the October meeting of Gardeners of the Bluffton Pandora Area. The meeting, open to the public is at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 4, at in the lower level of the Bluffton Public Library.

Allen County Master Gardener Tim Staley will make the presentation.

Girls' soccer: It's all Pirates against two NWC opponents

BHS beats Paulding 16-0; Ada 3-0

Last Thursday afternoon the Bluffton HS Lady Pirates  soccer team traveled to Paulding.

Bluffton was ahead 6-0 at the half, with 3 goals by Senior Captain Abbie Parkins, and one apiece for sophomore Hannah Yost, senior Sarah Theisen, and one for freshman Kayla White off a corner kick by Junior Kelli Leugers.

Volleyball sweeps Earlham in HCAC opener

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Bluffton University volleyball team was on the road for their opening Heartland Conference contest with Earlham College on Wednesday, Sept. 28. The Beavers dominated the match, winning 25-11, 25-15 and 25-19 while improving to 12-7 overall and 1-0 in the HCAC. Earlham slipped to 4-15 and 0-1 in the conference.
