Chamber and Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs sponsor free social media workshop
Social media.
That term, creeping into conversations, will be explored in a free open to the public workshop Friday, May 13, co-sponsored by the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce and Bluffton Centre for Entrepreneurs. The event is open to anyone interested in learning more about social media. The workshop is particularly aimed at businesses.
The workshop will touch on a number of ideas, but will be designed to give persons a practical ways that social media can make businesses more profitable. While this workshop will provide a basic social media overview, it will delve deeper into the subject, covering broader aspects.
The workshop is from 8:45 a.m. to approximately 10:15 a.m., in the third floor of the town hall. Although the event is free, RSVPs are requested so that planners of the event can prepare adequately. To RSVP send a note to [email protected] and identify who is planning to attend.
Persons attending will be treated to a free continental breakfast sponsored by The Bluffton Icon.
February's chamber breakfast featured Ryan Lowry, ONU senior from Bluffton, who presented a social media overview. A chamber survey from that session showed a tremendous interest in holding a follow-up session on the subject. That's when the chamber and BCE decided to co-sponsor the event.
"We encourage businesses to allow as many of their employees or associates to attend as possible. This type of program is often only offered in larger cities with a cost involved to attend and a possible overnight hotel stay required. Our speakers are very knowledgeable and will provide valuable overviews and tips on how social media can impact your business," said Matthews.
Two speakers are confirmed and the third will be confirmed this week. Matt Brown, president of the Ada Chamber of Commerce, will speak on "The Social Way." Josh Smith of Bluffton, editor, Notebooks.com, is the second speaker. A third speaker will be announced soon.
Each speaker will offer a 15-minute presentation on different aspects of social media. Following each presentation will be a question and answer period.
For more information about the program contact Fred Steiner, 419-369-2985 at the chamber or e-mail: [email protected]
