MHCO Celebrates Older Americans Month
During the month of May Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio celebrates Older Americans Month with a host of activities and special programs.
"It is a great time to celebrate the lives of our elders and share their talents and stories with the others," said Marketing Director Julie Stratton.
Beginning Monday, May 8, it is also National Nursing Home Week.
"The Mennonite Memorial Home invites you to join us as we celebrate with special events throughout the month, said Stratton.
A few things that have already happened or will be coming up are: Jr. Weihrauch entertained with organ music Monday, May 9. Busy as a Bee Day is Wednesday, May 11, and the colors of the day are yellow and black.
Residents will enjoy watching "The Bee Movie" at 10 a.m. Honey Run Apiaries from Delphos will present a program at 2:30 p.m. in the MMH chapel.
Family and friends are invited to join residents for the Women's Celebration on Monday, May 16 at 6 p.m. and/or May 17 at noon. A catered meal will be provided. RSVP expected by May 12.
Treva Shilling from Nevada, Ohio, will present a program on "Chalk Talk" on Wednesday, May 18 at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel. Residents from MMH and Maple Crest will enjoy getting acquainted with their pen pals from Allen East Second Grade class on Friday, May 20, at 9:45 a.m. in the MMH chapel. Clowns will entertain, the children will sing and refreshments will be served.
Fellowship and renewing old friendships as MMH residents are guests at Hilty Home for an afternoon of Bingo on May 20. Senior. Health and Fitness Day sponsored by the Bluffton Family Recreation is Wednesday, May 25.
All are invited to Body Recall exercise class at 9 a.m. A competitive game of Balloon Volleyball is planned for 2 p.m. and residents will enjoy country drives planned throughout the month.
