Birdies for Bookworms Golf Scramble Held at Bluffton
Teams of golfers "teed" it up in the "Birdies for Bookworms Golf Scramble" on Saturday, June 4. Held on the beautifully groomed Bluffton Golf Club and sponsored by the Friends of the Bluffton Public Library, the event raised money to help offset significant reductions in state funding.
Following the round of golf and several proximity contests on the course, everyone enjoyed dinner and the distribution of door prizes. Local resident Oscar Velasquez also provided musical entertainment during the meal.
The winners of the scramble were Mike Allen, Steve Simon, Mel Stettler and Don Hostetler. Second place winners were Steve Chasse, Tom Potter, Daryl Osburn and Chris Kromer.
The committee for the golf outing - Tracy Steele, Sallie Jones, Cindi Chasse, Leslie Liberato, Barb Stettler and Jan Potter - wants to thank all of the sponsors for their financial support and door prize donations. In addition, the committee also extends special thanks to Bluffton Mayor Fred Rodabaugh for his support of the event.
Because of the generosity of the donors and golfers, the Friends were able to raise approximately $1400 for the library. A sponsor sign is currently being displayed at the library.
