December accident case in Common Pleas Court
A 29-year-old woman was recently indicted by an Allen County Grand Jury for her role in connection with a serious traffic crash on Dec. 9, 2010, in Bluffton, according to Bluffton police.
Bluffton emergency services responded to an injury traffic crash at 5:49 p.m. on Harmon Road in front of Bluffton Hospital. A vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed struck a tow truck that was parked along Harmon Road, according to the police report.
Both occupants sustained injury, with the passenger having to be removed by emergency crews using the "Jaws of Life." Both occupants were transported by Bluffton EMS and Beaverdam-Richland EMS to Lima hospitals.
The passenger was later transferred to the University of Toledo Medical Center with critical injuries. The male passenger continues to recover from his injuries.
Blood alcohol tests showed the driver had a concentration of .120 at the time of the crash.
Summer N. Swain, currently in custody on unrelated charges, is charged with Aggravated Vehicular Assault (Felony 3), Vehicular Assault (Felony 4), and Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated (Misdemeanor 1). The case will progress in the Allen County Common Pleas Court.
