Elm Street bomb threat brings out canines
A few tense moments kept neighbors wondering what was happening in a quiet residential neighborhood on Monday, Aug. 1.
Bluffton Police and Allen County Sheriff's deputies responded to an Elm Street residence in regard to a possible bomb incident.
The local resident contacted Toledo police after he discovered a voice message indicating a bomb was being placed at his home. Toledo police contacted Bluffton authorities, who followed established procedures for such an incident.
The resident met authorities, who conducted a search of the property. A Sheriff's canine trained in identifying explosives was brought to the scene to assist in the search.
Officials determined the call to be unfounded and cleared the scene within an hour.
