BHS girls' tennis season starts on Monday vs. Shawnee
By Ron Geiser
Two seniors and a junior will lead the Bluffton High School girls tennis team that opens play against Shawnee at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Harmon Field courts.
Ashlin Gable and Kristi Geiser are seeking their fourth letters in leading a largely inexperienced team under new coach Jesse Sensenig. Both are three-year starters, while junior Emily Sprague is a two-year veteran.
Gable has posted 56 total wins and Geiser has 41, both having played mostly doubles, while Sprague has 32 wins in two years. No other netter has more than one win on the remainder of the team.
Junior Rachel Sehlhorst is the only other returning letter winner, while junior Shaye Liddick and sophomore Katie Closson received certificates of participation last year.
Newcomers are juniors Bronwyn Green and Mariah Hughes, along with sophomores Kayla Edington, Morgan Pughsley and Dynasty Martin.
Bulk of the schedule is with Western Buckeye League schools, as Lima Central Catholic is the only other Northwest Conference school with girls tennis.
