Richard Moyer 1917-2011
Richard F. Moyer, 93, of Mt. Cory died Sept. 7, 2011 at his residence. He was born Oct. 20, 1917 near Mt. Cory to Frederick and Salva Steiner Moyer. On Aug. 16, 1942 he married Doneta E. Good and she preceded him in death on April 16, 2009.
Mr. Moyer was a retired elementary principal at Cory-Rawson Schools. He also taught at Bath and Liberty Benton Schools. He was a member of the Bluffton Presbyterian Church and the Bluffton Senior Citizens.
He was a graduate of Mt. Cory High School, Bluffton College and the University of Cincinnati. He was a WWII Army veteran, serving in the South Pacific.
Survivors include two sons, Gerald (Trena) Moyer of Mt. Cory, David (Carol) Moyer of Bluffton, a daughter, Susan (Dale) VanHorn of McComb, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and a sister, Carolyn Green of Bluffton. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sara Thomas.
Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Bluffton. The Rev. Dr. Matthew B. Zuehlke will officiate. Burial will be in Clymer Cemetery, Mt. Cory with military rites by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.
Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bluffton Presbyterian Church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.chiles-lamanfh.com
