Rev. Dr. Matthew Zuehlke accepts Bluffton Presbyterian pastorate
The Rev. Dr. Matthew B. Zuehlke, newly appointed pastor of Bluffton Presbyterian Church, will begin his ministry at the church Sunday, Sept. 11, at the 10:15 a.m. service with a sermon titled "Small Beginnings."
Dr. Zuehlke is originally from Nebraska, but has moved extensively since then. He earned his bachelor's degree in philosophy and ethics as well as German History at Guilford College in 2000, his Master of Divinity degree at Earlham School of Religion in 2006, and his Doctorate of Ministry in Congregational Life and Church Administration from United Theological Seminary in 2009.
Dr Zuehlke is also a specialist in funeral ritual and grief care. This is his 11th year in ministry.
Dr. Zuehlke is married to the Rev. Michelle Zuehlke, a hospital chaplain in Toledo. The couple met in seminary and have one daughter, Ariana, 21 months old. Before moving the Bluffton, the couple lived in Wilmington.
The Zuehlke's have been in the area for the past few weeks, and this Sunday marks the first worship service Rev. Dr. Zuehlke will lead, as well as the formal welcoming by the congregation church. Following worship there will be a time for fellowship.
Previous pastor, Rev. Lew VanderNaald, retired from the ministry. His final service with the Bluffton congregation was July 31.
