"The Castle of Otranto" is an adaptation of the first Gothic novel, written in 1764 by Horace Walpole. When an enormous helmet crashes through the roof of his castle, and kills his son, Prince Manfred maneuvers to find a new heir to ensure the continued rule of his family, even as enormous body parts begin appearing throughout the castle. Minigan has crafted his adaptation in such a way that it speaks to both the eccentricities of the original novel and to where America finds itself on the world stage in the 21st century.
Cast members include Jared Hudson, a junior from Cincinnati; Scott Troyer, a senior from Sugarcreek, Ohio; Eliot Nofziger, a sophomore from Archbold, Ohio; Jon Gray, a sophomore from Bluffton; Leah Waltermyer, a junior from Washington, Pa.; Olivia Trumble, a sophomore from Jenison, Mich.; and Jill Bornhorst, a first-year student from Fort Loramie, Ohio.
