$2,000 matching gift assists Memory Garden project at Maple Crest
A $2,000 matching gift from an anonymous donor means donations accepted through Feb. 19 continue to make a major impact in the Maple Crest Memory Garden and Pier Project, according to Daren Lee, director of marketing of Maple Crest Senior Living Villages, Bluffton.
On Feb. 11 Maple Crest held a pancake breakfast fundraiser to launch its Memory Garden project. From that event over $1,300 was raised by the more than 200 persons in attendance who enjoyed nearly 900 pancakes.
"The Memory Garden will be located by the main pond at Maple Crest. It will include a dock, screen house, walkway and reflection area, all surrounded by a beautifully planned garden of trees, shrubs and perennials."
All proceeds from the breakfast went toward the project. In addition, all donations accepted through Feb. 19 will be matched through the $2,000 match. Persons may send donations to: Memory Garden, Maple Crest Senior Living Village, 700 Maple Crest Court, Bluffton, OH 45817.
The Memory Garden and Pier Project is being developed in two phases. The first phase includes construction of a pier, screen house and walkway. The second phase includes development of a garden area with trees, shrubs, perennial and annuals.
