Alice Wingate, 1919-2012
Alice I. Wingate, 92, of Bluffton died at 5:40 a.m. June 1, 2012, at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. She was born Nov. 24, 1919, in Putnam County to Clarence and Esther Slusser Jones. On Oct. 4, 1940, she married Paul R. Wingate and he preceded her in death on March 1, 2006.
Mrs. Wingate was a homemaker and retired from the Bluffton High School Cafeteria after 16 years and had worked at Triplett Corp., Bluffton. She was a member of Ebenezer Mennonite Church, Bluffton and the Bluffton Senior Citizens. She was a graduate of Bluffton High School.
Survivors include a son, Paul (Pamela) Wingate Jr. of Bluffton, two daughters, Mary (John) Polese of Ocean Side, Calif., Shirley (Stan) Schneck of Pandora, 10 grandchildren, Lonnie (Debra) Dudgeon, Rodney Dudgeon, Brian (Nicole) Wingate, Brad (Beth) Wingate, Aimee Polese, Maribeth Polese, J.J. Polese, Barry (Mandy) Schneck, Brandon (Xylina) Schneck, Bevan Schneck, 13 Great grandchildren, a brother, David (Maudra) Jones of Findlay and three sisters Margaret (William) Herr of Bluffton, Ruth Amstutz of Grangeville, Idaho, and Martha Beach of Jenera.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Dudgeon and a brother Clarence "Casey" Jones.
Funeral services will begin at 11 am Tuesday at Ebenezer Mennonite Church, Bluffton. Rev. Dick Potter will officiate. Burial will be in Ebenezer Mennonite Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 Monday at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Bluffton. Memorial contributions may be made to Ebenezer Mennonite Church or Mennonite Memorial Home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
