Beavers shut down rival Jackets for 7-1 HCAC mark

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University baseball team fell behind early against the Defiance College Yellow Jackets on Tuesday, March 31, but prevailed thanks to a three-run second inning. Bluffton improved to 14-6 on the season and a conference-best 7-1 in the HCAC, while Defiance is now 8-8 overall and 3-5 in the HCAC following the 5-3 Beaver victory.

Seam at bottom of National Quarry cause of water loss

A report published by the Great Lakes Geological Survey - Eastern Division warns that the National Quarry, bordering Jefferson Street and the Norfolk & Western Railroad, could be empty by 2017.

The cause of the water loss is due to seams discovered in the quarry regolith, which is directly above the bedrock.

Ecumenical tradition continues in Bluffton on Good Friday

The Bluffton ecumenical Good Friday procession of the cross and worship service is scheduled for Good Friday, April 3. This event is sponsored by the Bluffton Area Ministerial Association and the public is invited to attend.

This annual procession involves people of all ages helping to carry a large wooden cross through Bluffton to various churches. The procession with the cross will begin at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, corner of Elm and Spring streets, at 11:30 a.m.

Lots of activity is taking place surround the Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure (GOBA), which is headed to Bluffton on Sunday, June 21.

Robert W. Housh 1930-2015

Robert "Bob" W. Housh, 84, died at 7:45 a.m. March 31, 2015, at his residence.He was born Oct. 5, 1930, in LaMoure, N.D., to the late Charles and Dorothy (Witt) Housh. On Dec. 7, 1962, he married Gloria (Bruse) Housh who survives.
