This annual procession involves people of all ages helping to carry a large wooden cross through Bluffton to various churches. The procession with the cross will begin at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, corner of Elm and Spring streets, at 11:30 a.m.
The order of the procession will be:
• St. Mary's Catholic
• Bluffton Presbyterian
• First United Methodist
• First Mennonite
• St. John’s United Church of Christ
• English Lutheran
The cross will stop at each church for a prayer led by the pastor or member of that church. The public is invited to join in for all or any part of the procession and to help carry the cross.
The ecumenical Good Friday service will begin at noon at English Lutheran Church, Grove St. “Meditations on the Cross” is the theme of the service with area clergy giving short meditations interspersed with music and congregational readings. Those attending are encouraged to bring food donations for the Bluffton Food Pantry.
