Arthur Arnold 1917-2012
P. Arthur Arnold, 94, of Monroe Township, died at Richland Manor Nursing Home, Bluffton, at 11:10 p.m June 12, 2012. He was born Oct. 28, 1917 to Roy and Lilly Yant Arnold in Richland Township, Allen County. On Nov. 23, 1936 he married Erma Miller, who died Dec. 3 2009, they were married 73 years.
Mr. Arnold was a member of Pleasant View Church of the Brethren where he served as trustee, various other committees in the church and he was a deacon. Belonged to Men's Fellowship, and R.F.T.M Sunday School class.
He was a lifetime farmer in Monroe Township with various part time jobs. He was also Monroe Township clerk, Sub rural mail carrier and carpenter. He served on the Beaverdam Elevator Board.
Survivors include, a son Roger (Bertha) Arnold of Stow, Ohio, a daughter, Jean Ann (Dan) Gleason of Bluffton, Ohio, a daughter-in-law Mary Jane Zimmerman of Roach, Mo., a brother, Kenneth (Bev) Arnold of Elida, Ohio, and a sister-in-law Irene Miller of Bluffton.
Other survivors include grandchildren: Susan Verhes, Beth (Tom) Stasiak, David Arnold, Tasha Capozzi, Mike (Sandy) Gleason, Cindy (Jim) Vasill, Scott (Tiffany) Gleason, Dawn (Russ) Kuhlman, Matt (Starr) Arnold and Jackie (Joe) Bruce.
He also survived by 27 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great granddaughters.
Preceding him in death were a son, John Arnold, and a brother, Willis Arnold.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Pleasant View Church of the Brethren, Lima. Revs. Mark Bowyer and David Thompson will officiate. Burial will be in Lewis Grove Cemetery, Lima.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Bluffton and at the church one hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the mission fund or carpet fund at Pleasant View Church of the Brethren. Online condolences may be expressed at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
