Chamber music ensemble performs Aug. 5 at English Lutheran
Beauty in the Blends, a chamber music ensemble, will present a concert at the English Lutheran Church, 111 Grove St., Bluffton, on Sunday, Aug. 5, at 3 p.m.
The ensemble features local soprano Marlyce Gundy, mezzo-soprano Sharon Schermbrucker from Saturna Island, British Columbia, Canada, flutist Adam Schattschneider, woodwinds professor at Bluffton University, and pianist Barbara Young of Lima, former member of the music faculty at Bluffton University.
The group will be joined on selected numbers by accomplished local guest musicians, Jeremy (oboe, English horn), and Julia (mezzo-soprano) Szabo.
Since their first concert at Bluffton University in the summer of 2004, the group has performed to appreciative audiences across Ohio as well as in Vancouver and Saturna Island, Canada, and Fresno, California.
The concert will feature a variety of music: classical sacred works, gospel and jazz pieces, art songs, folk songs, and operatic numbers by composers such as Mozart, Vivaldi, John Rutter, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Mendelssohn, Dvorak, Tchaikovsky and George Gershwin.
The concert is free and open to the public. A freewill offering will be taken.
