Merilyn J. Crabill was a 1935 Bluffton High School graduate
Merilyn J. Crabill, 94, of Arlington died Monday, Aug. 27, 2012 at Lake West Medical Center, Willoughby, after a brief illness. She was born on June 5, 1918 to the late John and Goldie (Burns) Battles in Bluffton, OH. She married William "Ed" Crabill on May 26, 1946, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 2009, after 63 years of marriage.
She is survived by a daughter, Holly (Don Harley) of Willoughby Hills, Ohio; and son, John (Lisa) Crabill of rural Arlington. She is also preceded in death by brother, Dull (Natalie) Battles; and sisters: Neva (Garth) Heckman, Mabel Battles, and Marvel Battles.
She was a 1935 graduate of Bluffton High School. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, where she was in the church choir and played the organ, showing her love of music. Merilyn also had a "green thumb" and enjoyed spending winters at Palms Estates, Lorida, Fla., for 15 years.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012 at Crates Funeral Home, Arlington. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, 2012 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Arlington. Pastor Alphonse Schnipke will officiate and burial will follow in Hueston Cemetery, Hardin County, Ohio. A luncheon will follow the committal services at the church. Memorials may be made to the church.
