The Bluffton University women's soccer team manhandled Andrews University to the tune of a 10-0 shutout on Friday, August 31, 2012.
Five different Beavers found the back of the net in the first 45 minutes for a 5-0 Bluffton lead at the break. Maddie Moore (Linn Grove, Ind.) got the Beavers on the scoreboard at the 11:50 mark before Bluffton added four tallies in a 14-minute span from 26:02 until the 40:17 mark.
Freshman Laura Fish (Findlay/Liberty-Benton) got into the scoring column less than three minutes into period two and when Kirsten Egts (Rawson/Cory-Rawson) found her 12 minutes later the score was 8-0. Two more Bluffton tallies late in the contest made the final score 10-0 as Bluffton pounded the Andrews defense with 46 shots to just three for the home team.
The Beavers put a whopping 29 shots on frame and forced five more corner kicks (7-2) than Andrews. Junior keeper Maggie Armstrong (Vevay, Ind./Switzerland County) fended off the only two shots that Andrews put on target.
Junior Megan Moreo (Spencerville/Delphos Jefferson) and Fish both tallied two goals to lead the visitors. Taylor Fultz (Camden/Preble Shawnee), Jessica Ramirez (Archbold) and Elizabeth Webb (Ashland) knocked in goals in the first half while freshmen Kelsey Waidlich (Wauseon/Pettisville) and Hannah Krull (Lewisburg/Tri-County North) capped the scoring with tallies in the final 15 minutes. Ramirez, Egts and Virginia Keim (Dundee/Hiland) added assists for the victors.
Bluffton returns to the pitch on Tuesday, Sept. 4, when the Beavers travel to Cincinnati Christian. The contest is slated for 6 p.m.
