The Arts Advocacy group hopes to recognize three area artists
The Arts Advocacy Luncheon Planning Committee announces its first Arts Appreciation Day to honor one individual in each of the three Arts areas: Creator, Advocate and Philanthropist.
The Committee includes representatives from The Lima Symphony Orchestra, Northwest Ohio Film Foundation, Allen County Board of DD, Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center, Council for the Arts, Lima City Schools Arts, ArtSpace and Ohio Northern University’s Freed Center.
The main purpose of the Appreciation Day is to increase advocacy for the arts and arts-related industries in Allen, Auglaize, Hardin and Putnam Counties.
The need to highlight the economic impact, employment, creativity and innovation in local arts efforts is in response to the rapidly evolving local economic demands for a dynamic and creative workforce.
The group invites nominations of northwest Ohio residents who you feel would be a candidate in one of the three areas. Some of the factors in nominating should be the nominee’s general involvement in the arts, creative ability, leadership in major initiatives, work to increase funding and resources, increase public awareness of the arts, impact on arts education and volunteer work in the arts.
The Arts covers all mediums of visual and performance arts including, but not limited to, painting, sculpture, media, graphics, film, music, dance and theater.
To nominate a candidate, submit a narrative (1,500 word limit) and two letters of recommendation to Cindy Wood, VMCCC, 7 Town Square, Lima, OH 45801 or email in PDF to [email protected] no later than Oct. 1.
An awards luncheon is Oct. 22.
