The Wilmington College women's soccer team took the lead with two goals in the opening 18 minutes of action. The Quakers stayed on top throughout the match to clinch their sixth victory (6-0-1) of the season on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012. Bluffton dropped to 1-4 following the 2012 home opener.
Bluffton fought off several attempts until minute 13 when Wilmington scored its first goal, followed by a second Lauren Price tally six minutes later. Down 2-0, the Beavers answered back with a goal from inside the box by Maddie Moore (Linn Grove, Ind./South Adams) in minute 22. She knocked in her second goal of the season thanks to an assist from Ramirez.
Late in the first period, Wilmington added another score on a Bluffton own goal following a Quaker corner kick. Neither team was able to crack the defense in period two as Wilmington stayed undefeated on the season. Moore's goal was the first score allowed by the visitors this season.
The Quakers finished with a 12-8 advantage in shots and 4-0 advantage in corner kicks. Laura Fish (Findlay/Liberty-Benton) led Bluffton with three shot attempts, all on frame, while Maddie Moore and Megan Moreo (Spencerville/Delphos Jefferson) added two each.
Bluffton will return to action on Wednesday, September 19, when the Beavers travel to Indiana Tech. The match is scheduled to be played at 7 p.m. in Fort Wayne, Ind.
