University Chorale to debut at Bluffton fall concert Oct. 14
The new Bluffton University Chorale will make its debut at a fall choral and instrumental concert at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, in Yoder Recital Hall.
Also featuring Bluffton’s Camerata Singers and Concert Band, the concert is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be taken for music scholarships.
Dr. Jon C. Peterson, assistant professor of music, conducts the University Chorale, a mixed ensemble with 50 voices. Pianist Anya Stembler-Smith will accompany the chorus, which will have student conductors on two numbers—Justin McCall, a senior from Forest, Ohio, and Kim (Rupert) Cornelius, a senior originally from Ottawa, Ohio, and now living in Wapakoneta.
Cornelius will also be a soloist on one of the Camerata Singers’ selections, as will Ally Christner, a senior from Goshen, Ind. Dr. Mark J. Suderman, professor of music, conducts the select chamber choir, which is accompanied by Allison Ringold.
Paul Baransy, an adjunct faculty member, is conducting the Concert Band. Sophomore Renee Kindle of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, will have flute solos on two numbers, including Ravel’s “Bolero.”
