Second half LCC surge dooms Pirates
By Bryan Kress
Despite stifling the Central Catholic offense and leading after half, Lima Central Catholic eventually found their rhythm to defeated Bluffton High School 43-10 on Friday night in Lima.
LCC had the advantage in yardage at 440-140.
The scoring started off in the first with a 45-yard touchdown run by LCC, which ended up being the only score for the T-Birds in the half.
Robbie Stratton would pick off a pass in the first and took it 24 yards for a score to tie the game at seven.
Both defenses played well in the half and Matt Deter’s booming 45-yard field goal in the second would be the only scoring in the second quarter.
Unfortunately Bluffton could not continue their pace, but LCC began to pick up their offense and Bluffton’s defense could not respond.
LCC scored three times in the third quarter with a touchdown pass and two touchdown runs to end the third quarter 28-10.
LCC scored two more times in the final frame, including a 79-yard pass, which concluded the scoring at 43-10.
Despite the stagnate offense running back Zach Wilson led the team in rushing with 81 yards and also caught two balls for 21 yards, putting him over 100 yards in total offense.
The defense was led by Austin Devier and Clay Wilson who added seven tackles each. Both Robbie and Noah Stratton added interceptions each.
Bluffton is finally at home this week after three straight games on the road against Paulding (0-8).
