Bluffton University to stage ‘The Real Inspector Hound'
Tickets are on sale for Bluffton University’s fall production of “The Real Inspector Hound,” by Tom Stoppard.
Dr. Melissa Friesen, an associate professor and chair of communication and theatre at Bluffton, will direct the show, being staged at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 8-10 and at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 11 in Ramseyer Auditorium in College Hall. Tickets, $7.50 for adults and $5.50 for senior citizens (65 and over) and non-Bluffton students, are available online at http://tickets.bluffton.edu or by calling the box office at 419-358-3239.
In “The Real Inspector Hound,” a parody of Agatha Christie-like murder mysteries, theatre critics Moon and Birdboot get swept up into the British whodunit they are supposed to be reviewing. In addition to pompous critics, Stoppard provides melodramatic plot twists and surprising intersections between reality and fiction in the acclaimed short play.
Cast members include Seth Rue, a junior from Continental, Ohio; Joe Wilson, a sophomore from Covington, Ohio; Shannon Thiebeau, a sophomore from St. Marys, Ohio; Tanner Kurilec, a first-year student from Mount Gilead, Ohio; Jill Bornhorst, a sophomore from Fort Loramie, Ohio; Amanda Bartel, a first-year student from Iowa City, Iowa; Jared Hudson, a senior from Cincinnati, Ohio; Spencer Genson, a junior from Toledo, Ohio; and John Eckenrode, a first-year student from Northwood, Ohio.
Students in production roles are stage manager Lydia Speicher, a junior from Marysville, Ohio; lighting designer Sam Griffith, a sophomore from Greensburg, Pa.; and costume assistant Rebecca Juliana, a first-year student from Mechanicsburg, Pa.
Paula Unrau, an adjunct instructor of theatre and English at Bluffton, is costume designer for the play, and Mervin Schrock of Findlay, Ohio, is the technical director.
