Holiday session of programs to begin at BFR Sports & Fitness
The Holiday session of youth and adult programs at BFR Sports & Fitness will begin the week of Oct. 29. Adult Fitness Classes continue into December. Youth sport skill 7-week sessions will also begin the week of Oct. 29. In addition to sport skill and fitness classes, BFR offers fitness center memberships, track passes and recreation passes.
Several new youth classes will be offered in this session. Music & Motion will be offered on Wednesdays from 4:30-5 pm beginning November 7. Music & Motion will introduce young children (ages 2-5) to the fun of music with movement activities. Cost for the 6-sessions is $20/$10BFR.
Rookie Sports Fun will be offered on Mondays from 4:30-5pm, as well. Sports Fun is designed for youth ages 4-6 years who like lots of variety; different sport-skill activities will be explored each week. Cost for 7-sessions is $20/$10BFR.
The U7 Soccer Fun class brings youth who were 4,5 or 6 years of age as of 8/1/2012. Soccer Fun, which meets on Thursdays from 4:30-5:15pm, helps younger players develop ball-handling skills through lots of fun activities. Cost for the 6-sessions is $26/$12BFR).
Also returning to the BFR youth schedule is a Volleyball Skills & Drill class for youth in grades 3-6. The Volleyball class meets on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30pm; cost for the 6-sessions will be $26/$12BFR.
Other youth sport classes to be offered will be Basketball Basics (K-3 grades on Thursdays at 3:30pm), Football Basics (K-2 grades on Tuesdays at 3:30pm) and Advanced Football (Midget Football players on Tuesdays at 4:30pm), Dodgeball Play (grades K-8 grades on Fridays at 3:30pm), and Tiny Tots on Wednesdays at 10am (youth ages 18 months to age 4).
Swim lessons will resume on Thursday, November 1 with class levels of Splashtime (toddler), Little Swimmers (ages 3-6 yrs.), Grade 1-4 Swim I, and Swim II.
While the upper level tennis classes are filled, several spaces in the beginner youth class are open (Mondays 3:15-4pm). Contact BFR for program fee information and to register.
With cooler weather approaching, individuals and families may be looking for indoor recreation and fitness options. BFR offers full memberships for youth, adults and families that includes use of the fitness center (for those 14 years and older), plus access to the indoor track, as well as open times in the gymnasium and arena. Payment plan options (including monthly credit card payments) are available.
For those looking just for recreation times in the gym or arena and use of the indoor track, BFR now offers a Family Rec Pass or Individual Rec Pass. The Family Rec Pass ($150) includes unlimited use of the recreational facilities (not fitness center) for the entire household for 12 months from date of purchase. An individual rec pass may be purchased as a 10 visit pass for $30. Track Passes are also available for those looking strictly for an indoor walking/running option.
Adult Fitness Classes continue at BFR Sports & Fitness with YogaFit, Zumba Fitness, All Star Workouts, Cardio Sculpt, TBC workouts, water exercise, Low Impact Aerobics and Strength & Flexibility.
Evening options include YogaFit on Wednesday nights at the Bluffton Library (6:30pm),
Cardio Sculpt on Thursdays at BFR (6:00pm), Water Exercise on Mondays at the Maple Crest Senior Living Facility indoor pool (6:00pm).
Morning classes include All Star Workouts on Monday and Wednesday mornings (8:30am), Low Impact Aerobics on Mondays (10am), Strength & Flexibility on Thursdays (10am), and YogaFit on Fridays (8:30am).
Saturday mornings offer a rotation of Aerobic Mix (Kelly Prichard) and Zumba Fitness (Kim Fritsch). The TBC (total body conditioning) class is offered in the early morning (Monday through Friday at 7:30am), Tuesday and Thursday at 12:10pm and Monday & Wednesday at 6:00pm.
TBC is a 30-minute group workout under the direction of a BFR staff trainer; workouts vary daily and may be modified for each attendee. No registration is required for BFR classes and the first class attended is always free. Class fees are $5/$3BFR if paid by the visit, or discounted if an Any Class Card is purchased.
Ultimate Fit, BFR's high intensity workout program, will return starting November 5. Ultimate Fit includes 12, 45-minute sessions in a month. Each session includes a full body workout of strength training and cardio under the direction of a BFR staff trainer. Cost for the month is $60/$35BFR; Ultimate Fit meets on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights from 7-7:45pm.
Drop-in recreation hours continue for basketball, dodgeball and indoor soccer at BFR. Adult basketball groups are offered for men during lunch (12-1pm) on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and for women on Wednesday nights (9-10pm). The indoor soccer arena is open for middle and high school age players on Wednesdays from 3:30-5pm and for adults on Wednesday nights from 7-9pm. Youth are welcome to drop in for dodgeball play on Fridays from 3:30-4:30pm. These recreation options are included for free with BFR membership or Family Rec Pass; non-members pay $5 per visit.
