‘Autism: A Mexican Adventure’ to open at Bluffton University Nov. 5
Cleveland artist and musician Craig Matis will present “Autism: A Mexican Adventure,” a mixed-media exhibition opening Monday, Nov. 5, in the Grace Albrecht Gallery of Bluffton University’s Sauder Visual Arts Center.
With the exception of Nov. 20-25, when the gallery will be closed for Bluffton’s Thanksgiving break, the exhibit is free and open to the public through Dec. 7. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 1-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
The exhibition is an installation of a series of panels relating the fictional story of an American father and his autistic son traveling through Mexico to help cope with his wife’s death. Using music, narration and colorful illustrations, the story describes a surreal journey, in a Mexican landscape, that invites viewers to learn a little about the difficulties in raising a special-needs child.
