Bluffton moves to 5-4 in the HCAC with 3-2 win at Franklin

=It took the whole busload to fend off Franklin College on Friday, Oct. 26. The Bluffton University volleyball team won in a five-set thriller (25-23, 18-25, 25-22, 22-25, 15-10) putting the Beavers at 15 wins for the season (5-4 HCAC).
Leading the visitors offensively was junior Bethany Behnfeldt (Napoleon) with an impressive performance of 14 hammers. Also in double digits were freshmen Jenny Brown (St. Marys/Memorial) and Kendra Parmenter (Grove City) with 12 kills apiece. Mackenzie Lauber (Mansfield/Madison) handed out 34 assists, while Danica Hicks (Convoy/Crestview) added 21 assists.
Defensively, Brown had an impressive performance at the net with four solo blocks and one block assist. Behnfeldt added two solo blocks to the winning effort. Juniors Dana Otto (Leipsic/Miller City) and Hailey Phillips (Malinta/Patrick Henry) picked up eight shovels each, while senior Heather Schierer (Crescent Springs, Ky.) and freshman Fallon Collins (Miamisburg) chipped in with seven apiece.
The Beavers continue on the road, traveling to Danville, Ky. to play in the Centre College Halloween Bash on Saturday, Oct. 27. Bluffton will take on Ronaoke and Berea in the final regular season matches of the 2012 season.
