E. Jeanette Slechter was a Bluffton University graduate
E. Jeanette Slechter, 85, died on Dec. 15, 2012, at 2:20 A.M. at Lima Memorial Health System in Lima.
Born May 4, 1927 in Jackson Twp, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Cassius Lyncon Ballinger and the late Clara Ida (Grant) Ballinger.
She married Robert H. Slechter on February 14, 1947. He preceded her in death on December 27, 2007.
She was a retired school teacher with the Elida School System for over 25 years. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren; Elida VFW and a former Jr. Vice President; Alpha Delta Kappa and a past president. She received her Bachelor Degree at the Bluffton University and her Master’s Degree from the University of Dayton.
Surviving are: two daughters, Roberta (Douglas) Simpson of Lima, OH and Sandra (Anthony) Azzarello of Lima, OH; four grandchildren, Patrick (Amy) Azzarello of Bryan, OH, Christopher Simpson of Columbus, OH, Amanda Simpson of Lima, OH, and Anthony (Samantha) Azzarello of Lima, Ohio; four great grandchildren, Josie Azzarello, Lane Azzarello, Callie Azzarello, and Cacee Azzarello all of Bryan, OH; AND a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: a daughter, Donna Christine Slechter.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 18 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p,m. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Funeral service will be on Wednesday, December 19, at the Sugar Creek Church of the Brethren at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Patricia Meeks officiating.
