Maple Crest-Bluffton residents In SOAP volunteer effort
Maple Crest residents and Bluffton community members joined together in a volunteer effort to help women who may be caught up in human trafficking.
The SOAP (Save Our Adolescent Prostitutes) volunteer opportunity came out of Crime Victim Services, Lima, through a donation by a resident and her friend, and involved placing red stickers on bars of soap.
Each sticker had a short series of questions on it concerning being forced to do something or seeing someone potentially in trouble, along with a national hotline number to call for assistance.
These bars of soap will be placed in hotels, motels and truck stops in Ohio, in the hope that victims of human trafficking can be rescued.
The volunteer team at Maple Crest prepared 2,000 bars of soap for distribution.
