CLICK HERE FOR WORDS IN ENGLISH AND GERMAN
New Year serenaders are invited to meet at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 at Mennonite Memorial Home 410 W. Elm St., Bluffton, according to Dick Jordan. The event is an annual tradition encouraged by the Swiss Community Historical Society.
Warmup for singers at 4:45 p.m. for those desiring it. Following serenading at MMH, singers will go to Maple Crest at 6:30 p.m. where they will sing at Maple Crest's new year's eve party.
"Singing in Swiss-German as usual, also the same songs will also be sung in English this year to expand the pleasure to English-speaking hearers as well. For those who don't read German black letter text, or can't pronounce the Swiss-German dialect, phonetic versions will be supplied," said Jordan.
