Bluffton Area Ministerial Assn. sponsors The Cotton Patch Gospel on Jan. 20
The Cotton Patch Gospel, a one-man musical by Phillip Kaufmann, will be presented at 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 20, at First Mennonite Church. The Martin Luther King Jr. Day event is sponsored by the Bluffton Area Ministerial Association.
A freewill offering will take place with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting the Bluffton Community Assistance Program, Why Hunger and Mennonite Central Committee.
The Cotton Patch Gospel has music and lyrics by Harry Chapin and is based on the book by Tom Key and Russell Trez.
Kauffmann is the administrator at Greenfield Retirement Home in Princeton, Ill. He is part of the Cotton Patch Gospel Food Project.
The Cotton Patch Bible was written by Clarence Jordan who founded Koinonia Farm, an interracial Christian community in Americus, Georgia.
