Sidewalk discussion picked up by Bluffton council
Sidewalk replacement, and all that involves, may be headed to Bluffton council this year. Although not officially on the Jan. 28 agenda, council did hear a report from its street and light committee. That committee met at 7:30 p.m. prior to the council meeting.
In 2001 council passed a sidewalk ordinance. It resulted in many sidewalks in the village to be replaced. The sidewalk projects eventually came to a halt, partically due to the economic slowdown in the United States.
Among topics the committee discussed included:
• Review of the 2013 street paving plan
• Review of the annexation of South Main Street and placement of light poles in that area
• Briefly discussed parking issues on Vine Street
Several committee meetings are scheduled:
• Parks and recreation, meeting at the swimming pool, Feb. 4, 4 p.m.
• Finance, 7:30 p.m., Feb. 11
• Utlities, 7 p.m., Feb. 11
• Streets and alleys, TBA
