Mustard Seed Cafe opens Friday morning in historic railroad depot
Bluffton has a new place to eat for breakfast, brunch and lunch. Mustard Seed Café officially opens on Friday morning, March 22, in a one-time railroad depot at 560 N. Main St.
Dick and Jayne McGarrity own the restaurant, with Rhonda Moor as manager and cook.
In a conversation with the three, The Icon learned that Mustard Seed’s menu ranges from “mostly traditional fare to truly unique.”
“We have salads for breakfast, with hash browns, and sausage and eggs, for example,” said Moor. “We want to consider all tastes. There’s something here for everyone.”
A weekend brunch menu will range from Eggs Benedict all the way to pasta with eggs.
“For lunch we will offer briskets with special seasoning and spicy coleslaw salad,” said Moor.
Dick added: “My favorite is the Greek salad and we have a “mean” chicken salad, and pork tenderloins baked with a blackberry glaze.”
In addition to serving meals in the café, takeout delivery service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. is an option. Mustard Seed also offers catering services. Persons may also rent the café for parties.
“We have a unique menu designed for the event and the client,” said Moor, about the restaurant's catering services.
Dick McGarrity said, “We recently served 330 persons in two caterings.
The newest Bluffton eatery has 11 full- and part-time employees, seating for 36 and when the weather gets warmer, customers may eat outside.
Asking about the café’s name, Jayne McGarrity responded: “A mustard seed is small. It represents faith. We hope this venture grows into something the community will enjoy.”
Diners can't help but notice the mustard-colored walls and attractive wall hangings created by Sara Chappell-Dick, which add to the dining ambiance.
This past weekend the café held a two-day “soft opening.” By invitation, they served dozens of persons in a fine-tuning act for their anticipated Friday morning opening.
Mustard Seed accepts major credit cards and has its own parking lot for customers.
