Apollo superintendent panelist at the Ohio Jobs and Workforce Development Summit
Apollo Career Center Superintendent Judy Wells is making sure Lima will be front and center this Friday, April 12, when she travels to Columbus, Ohio for The Ohio Jobs and Workforce Development Summit.
Wells will speak about workforce development in our region and how Apollo Career Center and career technical education has been responsive to industry needs; forging innovative partnerships with business and industry.
The purpose of The Summit is to focus on how the federal government can better support our institutions as we prepare workers with relevant skills in a rapidly changing workplace. The Summit is being spearheaded by United States Senator Rob Portman who is working to enact pro-growth legislation.
The day-long conference will bring together approximately 300 of our nation’s as well as Ohio’s largest and most viable companies and educational institutions. Wells will be the only Superintendent testifying before the group on Friday. She was invited to speak by Senator Portman’s office following her speech before Ohio’s Joint House and Senate Workforce Development Committee in February
Apollo has also been asked to display and discuss its welding program. Apollo is American Welding Society (AWS) accredited – one of only four sites in the state of Ohio. Apollo’s welding program managers at the high school and adult level will travel with Wells.
Business and education leaders will have an opportunity Friday to see firsthand how our students are preparing for 21st century jobs in welding.
