Painted rain barrels latest creations of BHS artists
By Maia Woods-Yee, BHS student
This is a story in the continuing series of stories written by BHS art students. The stories involve a story with photos.
Students at Bluffton High School recently painted rain barrels for a decorating contest being sponsored by the Blanchard River Watershed Partnership.
The students will be painting the barrel,s which will be set up so people can sit around them, but they will also be judged. The barrels are going to be shown at Findlay Village Mall from Wednesday, May 1, through Saturday, May 4.
A “People’s Choice Award” will be given depending on votes from mall shoppers. Voting ends May 3 at 3 p.m.
Several businesses and agencies will be sponsoring the rain barrels and others will be put in a silent auction. The rain barrel accompanying this article was created by Celeste Stauber and McKenna Reneker (also shown above in the process of painting) and the second barrel was painted by Jessica Mikesell, Sierra Amstutz, and Karli Leugers.
