Camp for children who love to sing returns to Ada this summer; registration underway
The camp for children who love to sing returns to Ada this summer.
Summer Sounds Choral Festival is a half-day day choral experience for rising 2nd through 9th graders where they learn choral repertoire and performance techniques, develop their musical skills through movement and music games, and have special classes with Orff-Schulwerk instruments. Camp dates are Aug. 5 to Aug. 9.
Experienced music teachers teach all classes and are assisted by ONU music majors and local, talented youth.
The week culminates with a concert highlighting the skills the children have learned throughout the week. Tuition is payable with registration and includes classes, T-shirt, daily snack, and Friday's lunch. Choristers should bring their own lunch Monday through Thursday.
The camp runs 8:45 a.m. to noon Monday to Thursday, and 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday with a community concert at 3:30 p.m.
Held at Grace Gospel Church on Gilbert Street, Ada, tuition is $90 ($75 if registering before May 31). There is also an extended-day option, which runs from 8:45 - 4 p.m. daily. The musical fun continues with classes in dance/movement, ear-training, piano lab, arts and crafts and outside fun.
Tuition for the extended day option is $160 ($145 if registering before May 31). Contact Vicki Mills at www.vickismusicstudio.com for more information.
