Beaverdam Bunch 4H Club discuss upcoming fair
By Sydney Hoff, Reporter
At our meeting on June 17, we talked about fair IDs. New members and members with their last names starting with A-H need to get their fair ID pictures taken. If you don’t get your fair ID you will have to pay to get into the fair.
Even if your last name doesn’t start with A-H you still need to pick up a new fair ID. (They will use last year’s picture for members whose last names start with I-Z.) Dates to get your IDs are July 19 – August 9 (Monday – Friday from 9AM – 4PM), Saturday July 20th from 8:30AM – 2PM, and Saturday August 10th from 9AM – 12 noon.
You can get your fair ID at the fair office at the Allen County Fairgrounds.
At our meeting on June 24, we were reminded that the deadline for online fair entries is July 1st. Please get a copy of your entry to Jan.
We talked about a community service project. We decided to play Bingo and get gift items at the Christmas in July Bingo for the residents at Maple Crest. Items to buy can be hand lotion, chocolate bars, big print word searches and puzzle books, stationary/note cards and pens, etc. At least one gift per family is asked and please spend no more than $5.
Livestock Judging is going to be held on July 20th at the Youth Activities Building. The Beaverdam Bunch Club time is 11:30 AM. If you can’t come at that time, contact the fair office and schedule an earlier or later time. No animals at Livestock Judging. Make sure you bring your book and make sure it is filled out.
The makeup day for Livestock Judging is August 7th from 2-5 PM in the Youth Activities Building. The Special Interest projects will be judged on Tuesday July 23rd from 1-6 PM. All projects except gardening and canning will be judged that day.
The date for judging gardening and canning is August 15th from 2-5 PM. Poster sizes recommended for the booth are 14”x22” or 22”x28”. The club would appreciate if you do not use a tri-fold poster unless your project requires it. You also do not have to make a poster unless your project requires it.
Requirements for judging can be found in the Allen County Fair book which every family should have already received.
