2,000+ visitors coming to Bluffton July 12-13 for swim championships
Bluffton will be swimming knee-deep in visitors on Friday and Saturday – 2,000+ visitors!
The Bluffton Community Swimming Pool is host to the league meet of the Western Ohio Aquatic League (WOAL). Bluffton officials putting on the meet anticipate between 500 and 600 swimmers (between the ages of 4 and 18). Add parents and fans and there will be 2000-plus visitors in town.
Teams from the following swimming pools will be in Bluffton:
Bluffton
Shawnee
Sherwood
Ada/Lost Creek
Kenton
Wapakoneta
Westside
Van Wert
Friday’s activities begin at 9 a.m., but parents and swimming show up a lot earlier to stake their claim to a spot around the Bluffton pool.
Swimming official gets underway at 10 a.m. There’s a one-half hour break for lunch on Friday at approximately noon. The Friday meet ends at approximately 4 p.m.
Saturday’s activities follow Friday’s with swimming starting at 10 a.m. and the meet lasting until about 4 p.m.
The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce will provide free copies of “Explore Bluffton” to all who attend.
Coaches of the Bluffton team, nicknamed the Bluffton Sardines, are Liz Diller and Jared Staley. There will be a concession stand hosted by Bluffton parents at the meet. Elisha Reineke is in charge of concessions.
There is no admission to the meet. The public is invited to watch.
