Phoebe Clapper, 94, was a Bluffton High School graduate
Phoebe Ann Clapper, 94, died at 11:25 p.m. at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. She was born July 3, 1919, in Hancock County, Ohio to the late John and Mary (Barkimer) Wilkins. On Feb. 23, 1941 she married Boyd L. Clapper and he died Dec. 5, 2010.
Phoebe was a homemaker and had been a 4-H Advisor. She was an artist and china painter. Phoebe was a graduate of Bluffton High School.
Survivors include a daughter Joyce (Thomas) Martin; a grandchild Elizabeth (Joseph) Darnell; two great grandchildren Reese and Jude Darnell; and a sister Glada Basinger of Pandora.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Norma Clapper; a granddaughter Lydia Martin; five brothers Waldo, Daniel, John Jr., Delbert, Rudy Wilkins; and six sisters Edna Crawford, Sylvia Scoles, Mildred Hanna, Marie Mauk, Leota Badertscher, and Treva Bartley.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton. Rev. Jim Neighbors officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery near Mt. Cory. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to charity of the donor's choice.
