Registration underway for BFR 5-K and Pump and Run
BFR Sports and Fitness will hold its annual benefit 5K race Saturday, Aug. 31 at BFR.
5K Run/Walk
The 5K Run/Walk course travels through the streets of Bluffton and around the Buckeye Park. While the course remains the same from prior years, the Lima Run and Jog Club will be timing the event and determining winners.
A race celebration will be held inside the BFR gymnasium following the event. Awards will be issued to the top male and female finishers in age groups. First time 5K participants are recognized with special ribbons at the end of the race. Cost for the event is $20 (including a race shirt) or $15 (no shirt) if paid by Aug. 12.
Registrations received after Aug. 12 will cost $20 (does not include a shirt). Check in for the event starts at 8:30 a.m. with the race beginning at 9:15 a.m.
Fun Run
Families with young children and/or those looking for a shorter distance may participate in the Fun Run. The Fun Run course follows the path around the Buckeye Lake. Cost for the fun run is $10; participants will receive a participation ribbon. Registration for the fun run starts at 8:30 a.m. with the event start at 10 a.m.
Pump and Run
For those looking for more than just a 5K, the Pump and Run Challenge adds a bench press component prior to the run. Based on age and gender, participants will have a chance to see how many repetitions at their assigned weight they can complete.
Each completed lift will reduce the final run time by 30 seconds (up to a maximum of 15 minutes). Awards will be issued to the top male and female Pump and Run participant.
Participants who do not medal in the Challenge will be considered for 5K awards based on their actual finish time. There is no extra charge to be part of the Pump and Run Challenge; registration is open until event day ($20 fee).
